Commissioner of Immigration (BI) Hoeil Viado confirmed the dismissal of personnel, allegedly involved in the escape of the southern Korean fugitive Na Ikhenya in Kesson-City. Viado confirmed that concerning the involved BI employees, criminal complaints were filed based on video recordings from surveillance cameras and testimonies that indicate possible collusion. "These recordings are compelling evidence. This is not mere hearsay," noted Viado, referring to the recordings that, as it is asserted, show BI officers assisting Na in the escape after the hearing of his case regarding evasion of long-term confinement. Na, who was announced in the wanted list in Southern Korea for fraud, fled from the office of the Kesson-City prosecutor after participating in the hearing, triggering the announcement of his search. Viado emphasized that the case now constitutes a full-fledged criminal issue, and that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is taking it up. He also referred other suspected immigration personnel for preliminary deportation and promised to combat corruption in BI. "The days of corruption and illegal dealings in Bureau are numbered," the prosecutor said.
